As a former Marin resident, Alasdair Fraser’s musical roots dig deep into the Scottish soil of his childhood, where he was born in Clackmannan, Scotland. Despite facing teasing from classmates for carrying a violin case to school, his passion for music flourished. After initially pursuing a career in physics and working as a petrophysicist, Fraser was drawn back to music’s embrace in San Francisco. On April 26, Fraser will return to Marin for a performance with the San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers at Dominican University of California’s Angelico Hall. Named "Stravaig," a Scottish term meaning to wander or stray, the concert promises to bring together around 80 musicians playing joyful tunes that celebrate Scotland’s rich cultural heritage. Fraser describes the concert atmosphere as akin to being in a communal living room where local traditions come alive, allowing attendees to celebrate and dance to the flourishing sounds of Celtic music.
